Crisis and hardship grants - support for LiveWest Customer
Crisis and hardship grants are available to support customers facing urgent financial challenges accessing food or managing energy costs — due to an emergency or unexpected situation.
These grants are designed to provide short-term, one-off financial support during a time of urgent need and when no other funding options are available quickly. They are not intended to be ongoing or repeated payments.
Due to the limited amount of funding available and the high number of households we support, we must prioritise support for those experiencing the most immediate and severe hardship. Because of the high demand, there may also be a waiting period. All applications will be reviewed and a decision reached within 28 days. Submitting an application does not guarantee a grant is awarded, as each request is carefully assessed on a case-by-case basis.
Please note: While customers may make an application once in every 12-month period, this does not guarantee eligibility and that a grant will be awarded every year. Every application is assessed individually, considering factors such as repeat applications, current level of need, available funding, and overall demand. Crisis and Hardship Grants are intended as a one-off payment to help in exceptional circumstances and should not be used as a frequent remedy for ongoing financial difficulties.
To apply, you'll need to complete an income and expenditure form alongside the application. Our Tenancy Sustainment team will review your application, and you will be asked to confirm specific costs around your income & expenditure as part of your application.
We appreciate your understanding as we work to help as many people as possible with the resources available.
Our Crisis & Hardship grant is available to help with only the following emergencies:
- Food
- Energy top ups
If you require additional assistance our Tenancy Sustainment team can offer up to 12 weeks support. They can provide advice and guidance including managing your finances, your home and your tenancy. They can also signpost to external specialist services and organisations to assist with your health and wellbeing.
In some cases, Tenancy Sustainment may be able to help you explore external grant funding for essential household items, (we are NOT able to provide grants for flooring).
Please note: There are currently no external organisations that are providing grants for flooring.

Community Grant Fund for food and energy initiatives
This opportunity has been created for non-profit organisations to apply for grants of up to £500.
These grants are designed to support community projects where the beneficiaries are receiving free or low-cost food or energy support. Our aim is to help local projects make a meaningful difference, making sure that those who need it most have access to important resources and support.
Examples of projects we can support include:
- Surplus food projects to reduce food waste.
- Food projects which offer low cost or free food.
- General projects that also provide low-cost food, including youth projects and lunch clubs for older people.
- Community farms who provide seasonal low-cost fruit & veg boxes.
- Community energy advice sessions and drop in events to help households reduce energy bills.
The fund is open for applications from 1 September 2025 – 31 October 2025.
Applications will be considered after the closing date, and we will confirm grant awards during November 2025.
Grants will be paid by BACS payment or by supermarket vouchers.
